THE FLAVORS & TASTES Jammy, rich flavors of blackberry and currents, hints of cherries, a touch of cassis, cocoa and vanilla, plus a streak of mineral and earth the French call “terroir,” come together in this modern interpretation of classic Lodi Zinfandel. THE VINEYARDPlanted in 1916 – owned by the same family for five generations. Self-rooted, head-trained, unknown clone. Soil type: DeVries Sandy Loam – very fine and powdery with little to no organic content. Underground drip irrigation; only as needed. Temperature variations of up to 50F daily due to “Delta Breeze.” THE WINEMAKINGExtensive cluster selection in vineyard and the crusher. Small bin fermentation; multiple yeast strains. 19.5 months in cellar, 25% new American oak. |
