Our Wines

2009 Viognier Label

2009 'V1' Viognier

Fair Play

This is our third release of Viognier, a favorite of our winemaker. The grapes were grown in the Sierra Foothills, specifically Perry Creek Vineyard in El Dorado County. The altitude, dynamic micro-climate and soil here produce wines with great aromas and rich flavors. 30% barrel-fermented in neutral French oak, the balance was fermented very cold in stainless steel. Great aromas lead to a lush, full-bodied and richly flavored wine.

BEST OF CLASS OF REGION - 2010 CALIFORNIA STATE FAIR

09 Verdelho Label

2009 'V2' Verdelho

Amador County

Verdelho is a white wine grape grown throughout Portugal. Ours comes from Dewitt Vineyard in Amador County. The wine was tank-fermented at low temperatures. It is soft and elegant, yet has a core of nice acidity. Aromas of lemon cream, citrus and flowers make this a wonderful light-bodied summer wine!

Trio Label

2007 Trio

Red Wine, Sierra Foothills

This is the fourth release of Trio, our proprietary blended red. It is not ‘last cut’ stuff casually thrown together but deliberately and carefully crafted from vine to bottle. The aromas in the glass shows a sweet red berry and floral nose with hints of caramel and toasty oak. The taste is complex and layered. The Cabernet lends considerable structure along with bright notes of currants and cherries while the Syrah adds layers of dark plum and blueberry. The Petite Sirah contributes a profound bass note of licorice and spice.

Row 23 Petite Sirah Label

2007 'Row 23' Petite Sirah

Herzog Vineyard, Clarksburg

This 100% Petite Sirah is inky, floral, spicy and lush with fruit. A monster of a wine 18 months after harvest, it required additional aging in American oak for a total of 27 months to finally tame the beast. This mouth-filling wine is classic Petite Sirah without being overly intimidating, really. The name comes from the row of grapes we’ve harvested each year since 2002.

Old Vine Zinfandel Label

2008 'Old Vine' Zinfandel

Soucie Vineyard, Lodi

Soucie Vineyard is 7.5 miles due west of our winery. This wine was grown in the original six-acre block of vines planted in 1916 by the grower’s grandfather. This is, we contend, Lodi Zin at its best; intense and bold fruit flavors of raspberry, blackberry and dark cherries, along with strawberries and cassis. The aromas in the glass are of rich black fruit along with notes of toasty oak and an almost indescribable aroma of the terroir that is a hallmark of Soucie Vineyard.

The 2007 vintage won significant awards in competitions and so far our winery visitors tell us they like the 2008 even better.

Artist Series Zinfandel Label

2008 'Artist Series' Zinfandel

Lodi

This is our third release of what other wineries would call a "Reserve" wine. The blend can and does vary from year to year; this one is created from three Lodi vineyards - Soucie, Maley and Fancy Quest - all located north of Turner Road on the west side of Lodi. Juicy, upfront fruit is backed up by a nice backbone of acidity and tannins. It is complex and layered due to to aging for 18 months in American oak barrels. Bottled on March 28, 2010.

"RECOMMENDED" SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE - JUNE 13, 2010

Ridgetop Syrah Label

2007 'Ridgetop' Syrah

Lani's Vineyard, Amador County

This premiere vineyard is 1800 feet above sea level in Amador County, situated on top of a low canyon ridge forming the headwaters of the Pigeon Creek drainage. Shallow decomposed granite and volcanic soil and a dynamic microclimate produce wines of great extraction and flavor. Three of the best barrels of the ‘07 vintage were selected for this very limited release. Intense blackberry and blueberry flavors dominant while hints of smoke, toast and spice come through on the finish.

Singularity Label

2007 'Singularity' Cabernet Sauvignon

Frazier Vineyard, Napa

Singularity was fermented with yeast isolated from Chateau Latour in France. It was aged in French oak for 17 months. Petite Verdot and Merlot from the Oakville Appellation in Napa Valley complete this powerful and richly flavored wine.

SILVER - 2010 SF CHRONICLE WINE COMPETITION

Clone 6 Cabernet Sauvignon Label

2006 'Clone Six' Cabernet Sauvignon

Rutherford AVA, Napa Valley

This is classic Napa Cab with deep ruby color and aromas of red cherry candy and boysenberry along with toasty oak. A long smooth finish with enough tannic structure means this wine will age well for five years or more.
